The churches in Sudan and Ethiopia started through the influence of South Sudanese refugees in the U.S. who shared the news of the Covenant with their family and friends back home.
The Sudanese Covenant Church has developed among the Nuer people in South Sudan through the influence of Sudanese refugees who are members of churches in the Northwest Conference and who shared their Covenant connections with family and friends still in Sudan. There are now 300 churches with 55,000 people in The Evangelical Covenant Church of South Sudan (and Ethiopia). 250 of those churches are in South Sudan, the other 50 in Ethiopia.
