Covenant churches in Ethiopia exist as an expansion of The Evangelical Covenant Church of South Sudan (and Ethiopia). Many Nuer, the same people that make up the Sudan Covenant Church, live in western Ethiopia, both as residents and as refugees. There are currently 50 churches in Ethiopia, half of which are in refugee camps.
